Part of the new Heritage Rug Collection, this design is rooted in the legacy of Sultanabad rugs, prized for their generous scale and garden-like abundance. In the weaving centers of the Sultanabad region, floral fields were never merely decorative. They echoed the Persian idea of the ordered garden as sanctuary, a place where nature is shaped into harmony. Palmettes and rosettes suggest blooming and renewal. Curling vinework speaks to continuity and the steady unfolding of life. The medallion and repeating cartouches organize that abundance, a symbolic anchor that represents unity and balance, with each surrounding motif reinforcing a sense of protection within the frame.
The border plays its own role in the symbolism, acting as a threshold that defines the interior world of the rug. Layered bands and repeating leaves can be read as guardians of the field, holding the composition together and creating a feeling of permanence. In this modern twist on the antique tradition, the scale and detailing have been refined so the historic motifs feel current and architectural, designed to live effortlessly in interiors that range from classic to contemporary.
Handcrafted from premium New Zealand wool and made by master artisans, each rug in the collection is meticulously hand-knotted to deliver depth and dimension.
